How to Volunteer
Core Program
To get started: Fill out an application
with references and background check information.
The case worker will call to schedule a home visit. After approval, the volunteer will be presented with information on prospective children and a match is made after receiving clearance from the parent. The volunteer is introduced with the Little brother/sister in the presence of his/her home.
After the match is made the caseworker keeps close contact with the volunteer, child and parent and offers support on a regular basis or when necessary additional consultation and support services are needed.

Additional Volunteer Opportunities
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Frederick County has many volunteer opportunities to assist at-risk youth and nursing home residents. Volunteers are also needed to provide office support, and assist in promotional activities and fundraisers, such as Bowl For Kids' Sake, Christmas Gift wrapping, Annual Celebration of Frederick Youth Dinner and the Annual Golf Tournament. Anyone from a middle school student to a senior citizen can volunteer. Just call us at (301) 694-9455 and set up an appointment with one of our friendly staff members. All volunteers receive support, and are invited to our annual volunteer recognition events and other special activities.
