Eric Ferguson, a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia, has made the call for fellow African-American men to step up.
In an op-ed that appeared in a number of publications in the Columbia area, Ferguson discusses his personal family history, noting that neither his father nor grandfather made it through college, much less high school. However, as he points out, their examples of dedication and encouragement helped to spur him on through college and graduate school.
